A glass Parr vessel was charged with 10% palladium on carbon (0.2 g), methanol (75 mL) and 2-(2-{2-(2-methoxyethyl)-1-[3-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)propyl]-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinolin-8-yl}ethenyl)-1H-isoindole-1,3(2H)-dione (2.0 g, 3.8 mmol). The vessel was evacuated and charged with hydrogen gas (40 psi, 2.8×105 Pa). The reaction was shaken at 50° C. for approximately 18 hours. After cooling to ambient temperature, the reaction mixture was filtered followed by concentration under reduced pressure to provide 2.1 g of 2-(2-{2-(2-methoxyethyl)-1-[3-(2-oxo-pyrrolidin-1-yl)propyl]-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinolin-8-yl}ethyl)-1H-isoindole-1,3(2H)-dione as a pale yellow solid. MS (ESI) m/z 526 (M+H)+.
