Reaction Steps
Using a similar procedure to that described in Example 3, (2RS,4SR)-2-ethyl-4-hydroxy-4-[3-(4-tert-butylphenylthio)phenyl]tetrahydropyran was reacted with methyl iodide to give (2RS,4SR)-2-ethyl-4-methoxy-4-[3-(4-tert-butylphenylthio)phenyl]tetrahydropyran in 43% yield as an oil.
