11 ml of acetic anhydride are added dropwise to a solution of 32 ml of 88% formic acid and 3 g of 1-[(4-methylaminopiperid-1-yl)-methyl]-benzocyclobutene (cf. Stage E of Example 25) that has been preheated to 40° C.
