A solution of 138 mg (0.32 mmol) of methyl 3-[3-fluoro-3′-(3-heptyl-1-methylureido)biphenyl-4-yl]acrylate in 3 ml of methanol is stirred for 4 hours at room temperature in the presence of 10 mg of 10% Pd/C under a hydrogen atmosphere. The palladium is filtered off and the solvents are evaporated off. The residue is chromatographed on silica gel (70/30 heptane/ethyl acetate). 130 mg of methyl 3-[3-fluoro-3′-(3-heptyl-1-methylureido)biphenyl-4-yl]propanoate are obtained. Yield=94%
