340 μL (1.84 mmol, 2 eq) of 4-fluorophenethyl isocyanate are added to a solution of 250 mg (0.92 mmol, 1 eq) of methyl 3-(3′-methylaminobiphenyl-4-yl)propanoate in 8 mL of a 4/1 tetrahydrofuran/triethylamine mixture. The reaction mixture is stirred for 24 hours at room temperature. The reaction is stopped by addition of 10 mL of saturated ammonium chloride solution and then extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phases are combined and dried over sodium sulfate. The solvents are evaporated off and the residue is then chromatographed on silica gel (70/30 heptane/ethyl acetate). 221 mg of methyl 3-(3′-{3-[2-(4-fluorophenyl)ethyl]-1-methylureido}biphenyl-4-yl)propanoate are obtained. Yield=55%
