This material was synthesized from 1-(4-bromo-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-2-phenylethene (21B) and BBr3 in 90% yield by the same method as described in Example 6. 1HNMR (CDCl3, ppm): δ 5.39 (s, 2H), 6.81 (s, 2H), 7.06 (d, J=17 Hz, 1H), 7.11 (d, J=17 Hz, 1H), 7.28 (m, 1H), 7.37 (m, 2H), 7.55 (m, 2H).
