Procedure
1 mmol of thiourea is added to a stirred solution of 1 mmol of (1-bromo-1-methyl-ethyl)-cyclohexane [BRN 2424910] in methanol and the mixture is stirred for 12 hours at room temperature. The solvent is removed under reduced pressure and the residue is then suspended in 10 ml of 2N NaOH and heated at 60° C. for 3 hours. The reaction mixture is cooled to room temperature and extracted with tert-butyl methyl ether (3×). The combined organic phases are dried over sodium sulphate and concentrated by evaporation. The crude title compound is used without further purification.
