To a slurry of 4-(2-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl)-N-methylpyrimidin-2-amine (0.300 g, 1.03 mmol) in MC was added di-2-pyridyl thionocarbonate (0.227 g, 0.977 mmol). The orange reaction was allowed to stir overnight, and was then diluted with MC and washed 4×H2O. The organic layer was dried over anhyd. Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo to give 4-(2-(4-isothiocyanatophenoxy)phenyl)-N-methylpyrimidin-2-amine as an off-white solid. This material was used without further purification. MS m/z=335 [M+H]+. Calc'd for C18H14N4OS: 334.4.
