Reaction Steps
To a stirred solution of 122.5 g (0.344 mol) of product of Example 100 in 125 ml of ethanol was added 137 ml of 10% NaOH (0.344 mol) slowly. After stirring at room temperature of 1 hour, reaction was complete (19F-NMR). The solution was poured into 1 L of 10% HCl and extracted with 500 ml of ether. The ether layer was washed with one 500 ml portion of 10% HCl, dried (CaSO4), filtered and concentrated to 100 g (87%) of off-white solid; mp 142.5°-151° C. Recrystallization from chloroform gave an analytical sample; mp 169.5°-171° C.
