121 parts of N-dodecylpropanediyl diamine were dissolved in 80 parts of toluene and 98 parts of maleic acid anhydride added at 50° to 60° C. After stirring for 30 minutes at a temperature of 50° to 60° C., the toluene was distilled off under reduced pressure at 50° to 60° C. 221 parts of the crude N-dodecyl-N,N'-propanediyl bis-maleamic acid ##STR9## were obtained.
