Procedure
A suspension of 110.5 g of 1-ethoxy-6-chloro-3H-isoindole and 41.9 g of methylamine hydrochloride in 1100 ml of ethanol was heated to boiling under reflux for 4 hours under argon, whereupon it was cooled to 2°, the separated crystals were filtered off under suction and recrystallized from ethanol. There are obtained 91.0g of 6-chloro-1-(methylimino)isoindoline hydrochloride as white crystals with a m.p. of >250°.
