Reaction Steps
To a solution of the product of Step D (22 mg, 0.047 mmol) in MeOH (5 mL) was added 1N NaOH (2 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred 0.5 hours, and was then concentrated in vacuo. The residue was taken up in water and acidified to pH=2 with 1N HCl. Next, the aqueous layer was partitioned with chloroform and extracted 3 times. The combined organic layers were dried (MgSO4), filtered and the filtrate concentrated in vacuo to yield 15 mg (65%) of the title compound (Rf =0.40, hexane/ethyl acetate/acetic acid (75:23.5:1.5)).
