Reaction Steps
To a solution of (2S,4R)-4-amino-2-[(Z)-5-methoxycarbonyl-1-pentenyl]-1-(phenylmethyl)pyrrolidine hydrobromide (371 mg) in dichloromethane (4 ml) were added triethylamine (0.67 ml) and p-toluenesulfonyl chloride (200 mg) at 0° C. and the mixture was stirred at the same temperature for 1.5 hours. The solution was washed successively with water and brine and dried over magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated in vacuo and the residue was chromatographed on a silica gel column with a mixture of ethyl acetate and n-hexane (1:2) as an eluent to give (2S,4R)-2-[(Z)-5-methoxycarbonyl-1-pentenyl]-4-(4-methylphenylsulfonylamino)-1-(phenylmethyl)pyrrolidine (249 mg) as an oil.
