2-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)vinyl 1-ethylcyclopropyl ketone [III; Ar is 3,4-(CH3O)2C6H3, R is C2H5 ] was prepared from 22.4 g. of 1-ethylcyclopropyl methyl ketone and 33.2 g. of veratraldehyde according to the procedure described above in Preparation A1, affording 20.3 g., b.p. 156°-158° C. (0.02 mm.).
