Methyl 2-methoxyimino-2-(3-chloro-4-hydroxyphenyl)acetate (syn isomer) (2.6 g.) and a 2 N aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide (10.6 ml.) were treated according to a similar manner to that of Preparation (5-3)(c) to give 2-methoxyimino-2-(3-chloro-4-hydroxyphenyl)acetic acid (syn isomer) (2.4 g.), mp 147° to 150° C. (dec.).
