23.3 gm (0.13 mol) of hippuric acid, 93.05 gm of acetic anhydride, and 50 ml of toluene were charged into a 500 ml eggplant-type flask, and heated on an oil bath at a temperature of 90° C. for 10 minutes to dissolution, followed by immediate quenching the resultant solution. The produced liquid was kept at -20° C. on a dry ice-methanol bath.
