Reaction Steps

Following a procedure similar to that described in Example 35(a), but using 400 mg of ethyl 2-butyl-4-(1-hydroxyethyl)imidazole-5-carboxylate [prepared as described in Preparation 24(iii)], 1.00 g of 4-[2-(trityltetrazol-5-yl)phenyl]benzyl bromide and 197 mg of potassium t-butoxide, 0.94 g of the title compound was obtained as a viscous oil.
