1-(8-Bromooctyl)-4,5-diphenyltriazole (ex. example 60a) (1.8 g) was reacted with sodium cyanide in a method similar to Example 60b). Work-up and recrystallisation from dichloromethane and hexane gave 1-(8-cyanooctyl)-4,5-diphenyltriazole (1.16 g, 74.4%) as a white solid, m.p. 77°-8° C. Found: C, 77.03; H, 7.25; N, 15.35%; C23H26N4 requires: C, 77.06; H, 7.31; N, 15.63%.
