Reaction Steps
A solution of 11-6 (290 mg, 0.80 mmoles), 1N NaOH (3 mL), and CH3OH (4 mL) was stirred at ambient temperature for 1.0 hour. The reaction was then acidified with 10% KHSO4 and extracted with EtOAc. The EtOAc portion was then washed with brine, dried (MgSO4), and concentrated to give 11-7 as a yellow oil. Rf 0.58 (silica, 10.5:0.5 CH2Cl2 /CH3OH/HOAc).
