Procedure
A solution of 17-2 (45 mg, 0.10 mmol), 1N NaOH (400 L), and ethanol (500 μl) was stirred at ambient temperature for 1.0 h. The reaction was acidified with 10% KHSO4 and then extracted with EtOAc. The EtOAc portion was washed with brine, dried (MGSO4), and concentrated to give 17-3 (45 mg) as a white solid. Rf 0.26 (silica, 10:1:1 CH2Cl2 /CH3OH/AcOH).
