Reaction Steps

To a vigorously stirred solution of 20-4 (230 mg, 0.51 mmol) in acetone (5 mL) at 0° C. was added Jones Reagent dropwise until the color changed from green to orange. The excess Jones Reagent was quenched with isopropanol (1 mL) followed by stirring for 15 min. The reaction mixture was diluted with EtOAc and then washed with H2O and brine, dried (MgSO4) and concentrated to give 20-5 as a yellowish oil.
