Reaction Steps
A mixture of 114 g (0.60 mole) 2-trichloromethyloxazolidine, 121.2g. (1.2 moles) triethylamine and 68.4 g. (0.9 mole) carbon disulfide was heated at 50° for seven hours and then was left standing for 18 hours at room temperature. The yellow solids were filtered, stirred with anhydrous ethyl ether, and filtered again to obtain 195.5 g (88.7% conversion) of the desired product, m.p. 107°-110°C.
