Reaction Steps
4.17 g. (0.01 mole) of the hydroxy compound of Example 3 was dissolved in 8 ml. of dry pyridine to which was added 1.22 g. (0.012 mole) of acetic anhydride. The reaction was stirred at room temperature overnight, evaporated, treated with benzene and evaporated again. The residue was taken up in ether, washed with water, dried over magnesium sulfate and evaporated. The compound was then purified on a Florosil activated aluminum magnesium silicate column using methanolbenzene as an eluting solvent to obtain a glass residue. IR and Raman spectra confirmed the structure.
