Procedure
If the procedure of Example 3 is applied to the corresponding quantity of 3-nitropentane instead of 2-nitrobutane, 3-(2'-ethyl-2'-nitrobutyl)-indole is initially obtained with a melting point of 92°-94°C. (from benzine). Reduction yields 3-(2'-ethyl-2'-aminobutyl)-indole with a melting point of 130.5°-131.5°C. (from CCl4).
