Procedure
To a solution of 0.05 moles of p-carboxy-α-hydroxyhydratropamide in 50 cc. of acetic acid is added 5 cc. of a concentrated sulfuric acid. The mixture is heated on the steam-bath for 1/2 hour, then concentrated in vacuo. Addition of water to the residue and filtration gives p-carboxyatropamide.
