Reaction Steps

A mixture of the product of Step 1 (1.68 g, 0.0074 mol) and 3-(dimethylamino)-1-(3-methyl-2-pyridinyl)-2-propen-1-one (EP-A-0233461) (1.4 g, 0.0074 mol) in pyridine (20 mL) was heated at reflux for 3 h. The mixture was concentrated and then triturated to give a solid which was recrystallised from iPrOH to give 0.64 g (23% yield) of product as a yellow powder. 1H NMR (360 MHz, DMSO): 2.6 (3H, s), 7.45-7.55 (1H, m), 7.55-7.65 (1H, m), 7.85-7.95 (3H, m), 8.20 (2H, d, J 8.5 Hz), 8.39 (1H, d, J 8.0 Hz), 8.61 (1H, d, J 4.6 Hz).
