Procedure

1.00 g Raney nickel is added to a solution of 5.50 g (22.3 mmol) 5-nitro-2-pyrrolidin-1-ylmethyl-1H-benzimidazole in 50 mL MeOH. The reaction solution is stirred for 30 h at 3 bar H2 and RT. After filtration the solvent is eliminated i.vac. and further purification is carried out by column chromatography on silica gel (EtOAc/MeOH/NH3 8:2:0.2).
