Procedure
A mixture of Example 506C (1.87 g, 6.5 mmol) in dichloromethane (50 mL) at −78° C. was treated dropwise with a 1.0M solution of BBr3 in dichloromethane, stirred overnight and allowed to reach room temperature, quenched with a saturated solution of ammonium chloride, concentrated under vacuum, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extracts were combined, washed with brine, dried (MgSO4), filtered, and concentrated under vacuum to provide the desired product.
