Reaction Steps

To 1-{[3-bromo-2-[2-(2-(triphenylmethyl)-2H-tetrazol-5-yl)phenyl]-2H-indazol-5-yl]methyl}-2-butyl-4-chloro-5-(hydroxymethyl)-1H-imidazole (obtained in Example 13) in dichloromethane (8.4 ml ) was dropwise added 14.7% hydrogen chloride in ethanol (5.6 ml), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 17 hours. The mixture was concentrated in an evaporator, and thereto were added water (5 ml), 10N aqueous sodium hydroxide (1.25 ml), and 1N aqueous sodium hydroxide (5 ml), followed by filtration. The cake was washed twice with water (5 ml), and conc. hydrochloric acid was dropwise added to the filtrate while stirring so as to adjust its pH to 4-5. The resultant solid was filtered off, washed twice with ion-exchanged water (2 ml), and dried in vacuo at 37° C. to give 11 mg of 1-{[3-bromo-2-[2-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)phenyl]-2H-indazol- 5-yl]methyl}-2-butyl-4-chloro-5-(hydroxymethyl)-1H-imidazole.
