Reaction Steps
540 mg (1 mMol) of 4-amino-N-[1-(1H-benzimidazol-5-yl-methyl)-2-(4-carboxy-piperidin-1-yl)-2-oxo-ethyl]-3,5-dichloro-benzenesulphonamide are dissolved in 10 ml of absolute dimethylformamide and combined, with stirring, with 180 mg (1.1 mMol) of carbonyldiimidazole. After about one hour 2 ml of ethanolic ammonia solution are added dropwise and the mixture is stirred for a further 12 hours. It is then evaporated down, the residue is mixed with water and extracted twice with ethyl acetate. The organic phase is washed twice with aqueous saline solution, dried with sodium sulphate and evaporated down. The residue is purified over a silica gel column, the evaporated eluate is triturated with ether and suction filtered.
