After 1-methyl-6-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline(1.3 g, 7.3 mmol) and triethylamine(1.0 ml, 7.3 mmol) were added to a suspension of 5,6-dimethyl-2,4-dichloropyrimidine(1.2 g, 6.64 mmol) in dimethylformamide, the reaction mixture was stirred for 3 hours at 85° C. The reaction mixture was cooled to a room temperature and diluted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water and aqueous sodium hydroxide, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, concentrated under a reduced pressure, and then purified by a silica gel column chromatography to give 1.7 g of the titled compound. (Yield: 78.5%)
