2-Methyl-2-hydroxypropylamine was reacted with SOCl2 followed by 2-methyl-4-nitrophenyl isothiocyanate according to Method C1a to afford 2-(2-methyl-4-nitrophenylimino)-5,5-dimethyl-1,3-thiazolidine. The thiazolidine was reacted with 2-methylprop-2-en-1-yl bromide according to Method D2g to afford 2-(2-methyl-4-nitrophenylimino)-3-(2-methylprop-2-en-1-yl)-5,5-dimethyl-1,3-thiazolidine HBr salt.
