(RS)-1-(5-hydroxy-indan-2-ylmethyl)-4-(4-methyl-benzyl)-piperidin-4-ol (177 mg, 0.503 mmol) was dissolved in EtOH and ethanolic HCl (1.7 eq) was added, the product was precipitated after 15 min. by addition of diethylether while cooling to 4° C. The product was afforded as a white solid-foam (RS)-1-(5-hydroxy-indan-2-ylmethyl)-4-(4-methyl-benzyl)-piperidin-4-ol hydrochloride (95.7 mg, 0.246 mmol, 49%) Mp. 88-90° C., MS m/e=352.2 (M+H+).
