Procedure

Ethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-5,8-dimethoxy-3-quinolinecarboxylate (0.38 g, 1.43 mmol) was reacted with 2,4-diamino-5-hydroxymethylpyrimidine as in Example 17, and the product worked up as before. The product was purified on a silica gel column eluted with methylene chloride:methanol/19:1 to give 0.27 g (49%) of the title compound, mp 186°-188° (absolute ethanol). Anal. Calcd. for C19H25N5O4 : C, 58.90; H, 6.50; N, 18.08. Found: C, 58.95; H, 6.52; N, 18.08.
