Procedure

A solution of sodium methoxide (11.68 ml; 0.748 N, 0.0087 mol) is added to a solution of the acid product of Example 4 (3.2 g; 0.0087 mol) in methanol (200 ml). The mixture is evaporated to dryness in vacuo at 30° C., 150 ml of diethyl ether are added and the mixture is evaporated to dryness again. The residue is taken up in diethyl ether and filtered off. The yellow solid is dried in a vacuum desiccator in the presence of P2O5.
