Reaction Steps
2.0 g of (Z)-3-(3-nitro-4-methoxyphenyl)-2-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-prop-2-ene-nitrile were dissolved in 500 ml of acetonitrile and exposed to visible light rays for 60 minutes. The reaction liquid was concentrated and crystallized from ethyl acetate to obtain 996 mg of the intended compound. The yield was 49%.
