The 3-methyl-4-(pyridin-3-ylmethoxy)-benzofuran-2-carboxylic acid t-butyl ester was dissolved into a 40% TFA/methylene chloride solution, and stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. Evaporation of the solvent gave 3-methyl-4-(pyridin-3-ylmethoxy)-benzofuran-2-carboxylic acid in quantitative yield.
