1.14 g of lithium pentamethylcyclopentadiene (C5Me5Li) and 50 ml of toluene were added into a 100-ml Schlenk flask bottle at room temperature. Then 8 ml of dimethylaluminum chloride (1M in hexane) was added to the mixture. The mixture solution was heated at 80° C. for four hours. After the removal of LiCl, the filtrate was vacuum dried to obtain a yellowish dimethyl(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)aluminum. The yield was 78%.
