Reaction Steps
Methanesulfonyl chloride (17.9 g) was added to a solution of 4-(4-benzyloxyphenyl)butanol (20.0 g) and triethyl amine (15.8 g) in ethyl acetate (500 ml) at 0° C. and then stirred for 5 hours at room temperature. The reaction mixture was washed with water, dried (MgSo4) and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 4-(4-benzyloxyphenyl)butyl methanesulfonate (26.0 g, quantitatively). Oily substance.
