Procedure
In substantially the same manner as in Working Example 25, 2-[4-[2-[(E)-2-phenylethenyl]-4-oxazolylmethoxy]phenyl]ethyl methanesulfonate was allowed to react with imidazole to give 4-[4-[2-(1-imidazolyl)ethyl]phenoxymethyl]-2-[(E)-2-phenylethenyl]oxazole. The yield was 38%. Recrystallization from ethyl acetate-hexane gave colorless prisms, mp 165-166° C.
