Procedure
The product from step (iv) (1.35 g) and Lawesson's reagent (1.85 g) were heated at reflux in dioxane (50 ml) under nitrogen for 16 h. The reaction mixture was partitioned between ethyl acetate and brine. The organic phase was collected, dried (MgSO4), and evaporated under reduced pressure to leave a brown solid. The solid was triturated with ethyl acetate and filtered to leave a yellow solid.
