Procedure

The compounds of general formula V are novel. They may be prepared from the corresponding 4-chloro-3-chloromethylquinoline by reaction with sodium methanesulphinate to give the corresponding 4-chloro-3-methylsulphonylmethylquinoline, followed by reaction with sodium alkoxide NaOR1 to give the compound V.
