Procedure
Methyl 2-{4-[N-(6-chloro-2-quinolinyl)amino]-phenoxy}propionate was prepared from 4-[N-(6-chloro-2-quinolinyl)amino]phenol and methyl 2-bromopropionate essentially as described in Example 19, Part b). It was isolated as a sticky brown syrup. Proton magnetic resonance spectrum (CDCl3 ; δ in ppm): 7.9-6.7 (10H, m, NH, quinoline and phenoxy protons); 4.8 (1H, q, --CHCH3); 3.8 (3H, s, OCH3); 1.6 (3H, t, CH--CH3).
