The compound from Step A (300 mg) was dissolved in 4 mL of MeOH and treated with 1 mL of a 1.4M solution of NaOMe in MeOH under argon for 3 hrs. The mixture was poured onto 20 mL of NH4OAc (25% solution), extracted with 3×15 mL of ether, washed with 10 mL of H2O, dried over MgSO4 and the solvent removed under vacuum. The resulting oil was purified by chromatography on silica gel to afford the title compound.
