Using the procedure of example 122, (E)-3-[(2-hydroxy-6-(6-hydroxy-1-hexynyl)phenyl]-2-propenoic acid methyl ester (example 176) was alkylated with methyl 8-bromo-octanoate giving the title compound, in 67% yield, as a colorless oil.
