Procedure
To 50 parts of conc. aqueous ammonia are added within 10 min. at 20°-25° C., 18.1 parts of N-dimethylcarbamoyl-1-methylthioformimidoyl chloride with agitation. When all has been added, the suspension of crystals which forms is stirred for 10 minutes to assure completion of the reaction. The reaction mass is then cooled to 0° C., the solids filtered and recrystallized from acetone to give 10.6 parts of methyl 4,4-dimethylthioallophanimidate (a compound of formula II), m.p. 136°-138° C.
