Reaction Steps

A solution of 2 g. of l-methyl 15(S)-acetoxy-9-oxo prostanoate (Example 52) and 25 mg. of p-toluene sulfonic acid in 65 ml. of benzylalcohol is stirred at 100° C. for 6 hours. The solution is concentrated to near dryness under reduced pressure. The residue is diluted with ether and the resulting solution is washed with 5% sodium carbonate solution, saturated sodium chloride solution, dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate and taken to dryness to afford 2.5 g. of product.
