To 5.53 ml of acetic-formic anhydride was added 250 ml dichloromethane followed by 10 g of 3-methyl-6-[3-(amino)-phenyl]-1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-b]pyridazine. The solution was stirred for 12 hours, then diluted with 1 liter of dichloromethane-methanol (9:1). This solution was washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate, dried, and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was recrystalized from dichloromethane-methanol to give 6.7 g of an off-white powder, mp 265°-268° C.
