Procedure
43 ml of a 1N aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide were added to a solution of 4.01 g of methyl 4-[1-(2-chlorophenyl)-2-(imidazol-1-yl)ethylthio]benzoate (prepared as described in Example 21) in 43 ml of methanol, and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was then treated and purified by the same method as described in Example 10, to give 3.57 g of the title compound as colorless crystals, melting at 210°-215° C.
Workup
- additionThe reaction mixture was then treated
- custompurified by the same method
