Reaction Steps

A 40 mL reaction vial was charged with 238d, (1.00 g, 2.53 mmol) in 15 mL of DMF. The mixture was gently heated until it became a clear solution, and allowed to cool down to room temperature. To the mixture was added N-bromosuccinimide (NBS, 498 mg, 2.80 mmol) and stirred for 1 h at rt. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure yielding the orange solid. The resulting solids were collected by filtration and washed acetonitrile to provide 1.04 g (87%) of the desired product 238e.
